Citizenship

Citizenship education addresses the knowledge, skills, and understanding necessary for a student to function in a democratic society and to pass the U.S. citizenship examination. The democratic rights and responsibilities of a citizen and the meaning of citizenship are explored, along with study of the constitution and the history of the United States.

The purpose of this course is to prepare eligible permanent residents to successfully complete the process of becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen.

The course has three parts:

  • Part I: The Naturalization Pre-Interview
  • Part II: The Naturalization Interview and the Civics, Speaking, Reading, and Writing components of the Naturalization Test
  • Part III: The Naturalization Post-Interview
